What's Different About
Our Carpet Cleaning Service

Here in the Sarasota-Bradenton area there are many choices for carpet and upholstery cleaning companies, and it's easy to get confused when trying to make a decision on the best company for you. We've put this web site together to help you in your decision by giving you some important factors about carpet and upholstery cleaning.

Over the years we've come up with a process that we believe serves our customers best. Our Carpet Cleaning Process includes two carpet cleaning machines...That's right! Two seperate carpet cleaning machines. Our Two Machine process has been known by experts to be the best way to clean a carpet. Some companies will come to your home and only shampoo or only "steam clean" the carpet. We feel they've only done half the job. Our rotary machine gently cleans each fiber and then our hot water extraction machine, known also as the "steam cleaner" lifts out that loosened dirt and grime. Take our word for it. It's the best way to clean a carpet. Example of a professionally cleaned carpet   Carpet and Upholstery cleaning is our specialty... With our expertise and fine cleaners you can expect a top carpet cleaning or upholstrey cleaning job every time, and for less than those "big guys" with all of their overhead and large organization.

Besides this, We are not in a rush. We take our time to prespot any stains on your carpets, upholstery, and rugs before we begin the carpet cleaning shampoo and steam extraction processes. We also apply deodorizers and ordor digesting enzimes which are excellent in destroying animal, urine, and smoke odors. Yes, we can get out that "doggy" smell.

We really do care and we as your neighbor want to do the best job possible on your carpets, rugs, and upholstery. If you aren't satisfied, we will return to redo the work.

So if your home is anywhere in the Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice area (including Parrish to North Port) you will receive the best in carpet and upholstery cleaning that your money can buy! We guarantee that or we will return until you are satisfied.

All About Carpet Cleaning and Upholstery Cleaning

Here at Richard's Home Services we think you and your carpets and upholstery are important. We take pride in our two-machine two step cleaning method which we believe is the best carpet cleaning process available. In serving the entire Sarasota Bradenton area from Parrish to North Port, our goal is to perform such great service for our customers that they will have us back time after time. And tell their friends, too!

Our method of carpet cleaning includes the use of a rotary carpet cleaning machine as well as the use of a steam cleaner, basically a hot water rinse and extraction machine. The two machines working together makes the best possible method of getting the dirt and grime out of your carpet. And this is expecially true in Sarasota and Bradenton where we are near the hot humid Gulf of Mexico air which brings salt, sand, and humid mold causing air to penetrate your carpet, not to mention sweaty hands and feet of the family as they work and play on your carpet.

The Two Machine Shampoo and Steam
Carpet Cleaning Method

So why do we use the two-machine carpet cleaning method? And why do we believe our method is so much better than the many other carpet cleaning methods on the market? The answer is simply because we believe that if you clean a carpet with just the shampoo machine or the steam cleaning machine you are only doing half the job.

Think of it like this: When you wash your hair, what do you do? Do you take water and run it through your hair and then dry it? No you would never do this. Rinsing your hair with water is never going to get out the sweat, oils, hair sprays, and other chemicals that your hair picks up. Of course, you are going to wash your hair with shamopoo which will break down the oils and greese. You rub the shampoo through your hair with your fingers and this helps break down the toxins and dirt so you can then rinse it out with water.

The shampoo carpet scrubbing machine The Steam Cleaner Wand

The proper way to clean a carpet is pretty much the same. What we do is use the rotary shampoo machine (picture to the left) to agitate the cleaning, enzime action, and deodorizing solutions into the carpet. The machine has a large round brush which gently scrubs the carpet fibers and forces the cleaning solutions down to the base of the carpet where much of the dirt and odors reside. Then we allow the carpet to sit a short while with these solutions before we extract the water and dirt with the steam cleaning machine (the picture to the right). The result is the cleaning solutions are able to do their job of loosening the dirt and grime, oils, and odors, and your carpet becomes clean and fresh looking once again.

Why Steam Cleaning Alone Can't Perform A Complete Carpet Cleaning Solution

If we were to spray the carpet with a solution and then immeditately vacuum this out, as most other carpet cleaning system work, how can the solution have any time to do their job? Basically with these methods, the solution is sprayed in and vacuumed out within a few seconds. There is little time for the solution to break down the dirt and grime in the base of the carpet where most of the dirt, germs and odors are living. With our method, the solutions are allowed to sit on the carpet for a number of minutes before we extract them out with the steam cleaning machine. Along with the solution goes the dirt, odors and grime.

Carpet Cleaning Misconceptions

The are a lot of ideas running around about carpet cleaning. Some of them are true and some are complete fantasy. We've been in this business long enough doing carpet cleaning as well as upholstery cleaning in Sarasota and Bradenton that in this section of our web page we'll help point you in the right direction.

What Do You Think About These Statements?

  • 1--You should wait as long as possible before you clean your carpet the first time
  • 2--Cleaning your carpet helps to wear it out faster
  • 3--My vacuum picks up most of the dirt
  • 4--The home variety or rental carpet cleaning machine does a good job of cleaning
Let's take a look at each of these statements:
  • 1--The truth is that the longer you wait to clean your carpet, the more damage that is done to the fibers and the more likely your carpet is gong to have a shortened life. The reason is pretty obvious. When dirt, sand, and other particles from your shoes, drop onto the carpet, they act as tiny razors every time someone walks across the carpet, grinding and wearing on the fibers. This is going to wear out your carpet sooner. So even if your carpet was brand new last year, there is no difference on how often you should clean it. The rule of thumb is clean the carpet every six months unless it is in an area where there is very little traffic. Then it should be once a year.

  • 2--There is no truth at all in the statement that cleaning your carpet wears it out faster. In fact, the opposite is true. The longer you wait to clean your carpet, the greater the toll is. Cleaning your carpet helps to keep it looking clean and fresh for much longer. As we said in the first statement, waiting will only result in a shortened life for your carpet.

  • 3--The truth is that your vacuum picks up only a portion of the dirt that drops onto your carpet. How much it does pick up depends on how good your vacuum is and whether the filter is clean. Don't forget about the spills, mud from shoes and other such soil. The vacuum just can't get all of this, especially when it's been pushed into the backing by your family. This is not to say that you shouldn't vacuum. You should vacuum at least once a week--or more in a busy room--to pick up the loose material before it becomes ground in.

  • 4--No rental carpet cleaning machine can match what our two machine shampoo and steam extraction system can do. A good part of the dirt is in the backing of the carpet. The low power in the rental machine just can't release the soiling like professional equipment. On top of that, the chemicals that come with the rental unit aren't professional quality and are over priced. In fact, by the time you pay for the rental and the chemicals you've just about paid for us to come out to your house to do it while you relax.

Why Our Carpet Cleaning Method is the Best for Sarasota and Bradenton

Here at Richard's Home Services we have been cleaning carpets for over 25 years, and in that time we've come up with some practices and cleaning methods that we have found to be the most affective for the carpets here in the Sarasota and Bradenton and southwest Florida Region. To begin with, there is no better way to clean your carpet than the two machine carpet cleaning system. The first machine is the shampoo machine which has a large rotary brush which gently agitates the cleaning material into the carpet, loosening the dirt and debris, breaking down the spots, and breaking up hardened soil.

The cleaning solution is allowed to sit in the carpet for a short while to break down the soils. Then we come by with the steam cleaner. It has a sptray nosle that injects under high pressure hot water which is then sucked up with the high powered vacuum portion of the wand, pulling all of the loosened debris, broken down spots, and soils.
